Graham Linehan Links

I just discovered Graham Linehan’s blog. Graham Linehan is an absolute genius. He’s one of the creators of Father Ted, which in Ireland has the linguistic status of Monty Python or the Simpsons, i.e. you can say “the money was just resting in my account” or “right, Ted” and your listeners will be sure to get the reference.

Graham Linehan’s current project is The I.T. Crowd. One of the greatest comic minds of the generation turns his attention to tech support. It doesn’t get much better than that. Check it out, then check out Father Ted and if you need help translating any of the Irish cultural references I’ll be happy to help.

I had a lovely surprise a few weeks ago listening to my This American Life podcast when Graham Linehan made an unexpected appearance. It’s in part one of this episode. There’s a direct link to just that segment (with slightly different sound editing I think).

On an unrelated note, I see that This American Life does book links to Powell’s instead of Amazon. Interesting idea. And sadly, when I went to the Powell’s website I learned that Fup, the store cat, has died. I hope I still have Fup’s business card somewhere.

Thanks for providing the link for Linehan on “This American Life.” I’d been wanting to show this to my sister for a while.
